Accounts and sign-in
Which account type should I use?
Use Senior for your own companion and profile, Family & Friends to connect with a senior, Community Center Manager to manage a centre and its residents, or Service Provider for assigned care work. If you sign in through the wrong doorway, Techable reads your saved role and routes you to the correct workspace.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Open the sign-in page for any role, enter your email, and select Forgot your password?. Firebase sends a password reset email. Check spam or junk mail if it does not appear, and confirm that you entered the address used for your account.
Why does my manager or provider account say pending?
Manager and provider verification is reviewed by Techable. You can sign in while a review is pending, but protected actions such as provider assignment or publishing announcements remain unavailable until approval. If a submission is rejected, the page shows the review note and allows a replacement submission.
Family and provider access
How does a family member connect to a senior?
The family member enters the senior’s exact email or username. For a centre-managed senior, the request remains pending until that senior’s manager approves or rejects it from the Members tab. A pending request cannot read the senior’s profile or sessions. A standalone senior has no centre manager, so a matching connection becomes active immediately.
Who can approve a family connection?
Only the manager recorded on that resident can approve it. Another manager cannot read or decide the request. A rejected family member may submit a fresh request later.
How does a service provider receive access?
An admin-approved manager chooses a verified provider and assigns a resident. The provider can then view that assigned resident’s profile and sessions and add care notes. Assignment to one resident does not grant access to any other resident.
Companion, voice, and check-ins
What do the AI and voice settings control?
A manager can enable or disable AI replies and spoken output for managed resident companions. Techable stores only those two companion settings in a separate Firestore document. Turning AI off uses the local fallback replies; turning voice off stops automatic spoken output on the resident companion.
What is “Guess My Day”?
It is a short daily check-in about mood, a possible reason, and one follow-up. A completed check-in is saved with the senior’s sessions. Authorized centre managers, connected family members, and assigned providers may see the relevant wellbeing information according to their access.
Does an urgent check-in call or message somebody?
No. Techable records and flags urgent wording so an authorized person can see it in their dashboard, but it does not automatically notify, contact, or alert a manager, family member, provider, clinician, or emergency service. Techable is not an emergency service. In an immediate emergency, contact local emergency services directly.
Does the companion diagnose medical conditions?
No. The companion and wellbeing forms support conversation and human review; they do not diagnose, prescribe, or replace professional medical care. Health forms must be reviewed with the senior before they are saved.
Privacy, storage, and deletion
Who can see a senior’s information?
The senior and their routed centre manager can access the resident record. A family member needs an active connection, and a provider needs an explicit assignment. Firestore security rules enforce these relationships; a link that is still pending grants no resident access.
Which external services process information?
Firebase Authentication and Firestore provide accounts and application storage. Google Gemini may process companion and sentence-understanding requests; Google Cloud TTS or Gemini TTS may process text for speech. OpenWeather processes a location when weather context is requested. Supabase stores manager and provider verification documents through private, time-limited upload links. Vercel hosts the website and serverless API routes.
How do I delete my account and data?
Seniors can use Delete Account Permanently from their account flow, and managers can use it in Profile settings. Family members and providers should contact Techable for assistance. Browser deletion removes the account and the records it owns or manages before deleting sign-in access.
Some incoming records created and controlled by another account may remain—for example, an assignment created by a manager. Uploaded verification documents are also not deleted automatically. Contact hello@techable.org for a complete review and removal request.
How long does Techable retain data?
Techable does not currently apply an automatic retention or expiry schedule. Records remain until an authorized user deletes them or Techable completes a supported removal request. This retention position should be reviewed before each production launch and for the laws of the operating country.
Should I enter government or insurance identification numbers?
Do not put Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, or insurance identification numbers into the companion’s “My details for forms” card. Enter those only on the official form that requires them. A centre’s separate registration form may request an identification field according to its own process.
